DUNEDIN - The fourth annual Wearable Art Fashion Show is set for Saturday, Aug. 16, 7:30 p.m., at the Dunedin Fine Arts Center. Runway Show starts at 9 p.m., followed by an after-glow party.

By the fourth year of many successful events, organizers are starting to coast a little bit… resting on their laurels. Not so with the Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Wearable Art Fashion Show.

“We wouldn’t dare do that,” said Kaya Parwanicka, founder of the event. “People have really high expectations of us and that only makes us want to make Wearable Art even better and more exciting.”

Better and more exciting is hard to imagine after a year that featured a giant motorized rat, duct-taped and bound models and a sell-out crowd, but Parwanicka promises that and more.

“We have new designers, including Mark (the Balloon Guy) Byrne fresh from a month-long stint in Shanghai, China last fall, and some repeating favorites with more new and exciting work. We have an enhanced venue, a gallery exhibition in conjunction with the show and we’ve added an after-party that will feature Have Gun, Will Travel,” Parwanicka said. “We expect another sell-out and just an incredible show. You’re seeing more and more fashion shows now around town. We consider that the greatest compliment.”

Tickets are $15 general admission, with reserved seating going for $35 or $50.
