Stone Temple Pilots bring reunion tour to the Ford
Article published on Monday, Aug. 4, 2008
TAMPA - Stone Temple Pilots’ long-awaited reunion tour, their first trek together in 8 years, stops off at the Ford Amphitheatre with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club on Friday, Aug. 22, 7:30 p.m.

A dominant force in rock music since their inception, Stone Temple Pilots’ impressively extensive and top-selling music has cemented their standing as one of the most successful rock groups of all time.

Since the moment they appeared on the scene in the early 90s, they dominated the decade from start to finish, racking up 15 singles on the Billboard Top Ten, winning a "Best Hard Rock Performance" Grammy in 1994 for "Plush," and having their five albums sell more than 35 million copies worldwide.

Of all their peers, STP alone had sustained commercial success, earning greater critical acclaim with each release, building a body of work that remains popular and its enduring acclaim has only highlighted the absence of the band, who quietly went their separate ways after the turn-of the millennium release of Shangri-La Dee Da.

Despite the presence of the greatest hits album Thank You in 2003, there has been a generation that has never witnessed the live power of vocalist Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz live in concert, a situation that will most assuredly be remedied this summer when the band reunites for this long-awaited tour.

Tickets to the Pavilion-only show are $47.50, $39.50 and $29.50 reserve seats and $55 general dance floor. Tickets are available at the Ford Amphitheatre Box Office, all Ticketmaster Outlets and online at www.livenation.com. To charge by phone, call 727-898-2100 or 813-287-8844.

All dates, acts and ticket prices are subject to change without notice. All tickets are subject to applicable taxes, parking and service and handling charges.
