“Twilight,” an action-packed, modern day love story between a vampire and a human, stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson (best known for portraying Cedric Diggory in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”) and Ashley Greene.
Based on Stephenie Meyer’s 2005 best-selling novel, “Twilight” focuses on Bella Swan (Stewart) who moves to a rainy Washington town to live with her father when her mother remarries.
She meets Edward Cullen (Pattinson), and the two are quickly swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance. Cullen is not the average guy: He can run faster than a mountain lion, stop a moving car with his bare hands – and he hasn’t aged a day since 1918.
Cullen, like all vampires, is immortal; but he doesn’t have fangs and he doesn’t drink human blood. He and his family are unique among vampires in their lifestyle choice. Cullen must struggle to keep his emotions in check as he draws closer to Swan; and the arrival of the Cullens’ mortal vampire enemies, James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi) and Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre), only make things more difficult.
“Twilight” is the first book in the Meyer’s young adult Twilight series. There are presently four books in the series with a fifth, “Midnight Sun,” on the way.
“Twilight,” from Summit Entertainment, is scheduled to open on Friday, Dec. 12.
