Pirates make landfall in Tampa Bay.  No it’s not the Gasparilla; it’s the 84th Season opener at St. Petersburg Little Theatre, Florida’s oldest continually operating community theatre.  There’s a lot of history here and a lot of great swashbuckling entertainment in store.

Elliott Swift directs as Jamie Bierchen, founder of the Gilbert and Sullivan Players, takes the stage as the Pirate King with Tim Foster playing the Major General.  A rollicking cast of almost thousands lend support to what promises to be a delightful evening’s entertainment.

Come be terribly impressed by the very model of a modern Major General, or swoon at the beauty of fair Mabel played by Meghan Dorman. Meet all her sisters.  Cheer for brave Frederic who by chance finds himself plying a Pirates trade.  Boo the Pirates and cheer for the police or perhaps boo the police and cheer for the pirates.  No matter what, you’ll have a fun-filled evening enjoying Gilbert and Sullivan’s most popular, most performed farcical operetta.

This project funded in part with the support of the Pinellas County Cultural Affairs Department, the Cultural Council, and the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners.
