LARGO – A Pinellas County detention deputy resigned on Aug. 14 after being arrested for possession of child pornography and drugs.
According to a press release from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Kerry Albert Hunt, 45, of Pinellas Park was arrested at the Sheriff’s Administration Building in Largo at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, for possession of child pornography and possession of hydrocodone, propoxphene and testosterone.
Hunt had been on paid administrative leave since Aug. 6 for possession of anabolic steroids.
According to detectives, during the course of the investigation after the Aug. 6 arrest, detectives developed additional information that Hunt might also be in possession of child pornography.
Detectives from the Crimes Against Children Unit were called to investigate. During that investigation detectives found probable cause for his arrest on five counts of sexual performance by a child.
Detectives seized computer disks and VHS tapes containing child pornography from his Pinellas Park home.
After his arrest, Hunt resigned from his job, effective Aug. 14. He was being held in the Pinellas County jail with a total bond for all charges of $37,000.
