Man accused of beer keg theft
Article published on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007
INDIAN ROCKS BEACH – A Largo man is charged with grand theft for allegedly stealing three empty beer kegs from a fenced enclosure at Crabby Bill’s Restaurant at 401 Gulf Blvd.

According to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jim Bordner, a manager at the Blue Marlin observed William Louis Josten, 66, of 6900 Ulmerton Road No. 22, and a second man in possession of three kegs they had loaded into a Honda Accord behind Crabby Bill’s.

When questioned by the manager, the suspect said he was “picking them up for someone” and after issuing obscenities, drove away, according to Bordner. The manager got the license plate number and investigators traced it to Josten. Bordner said surveillance video also provided key evidence.

The kegs have a scrap value of $100 each, Bordner said.

Josten was released on $2,000 bond. A second suspect remains at large.
