CLEARWATER – Since 2002, the city has had eight coin-operated viewers on Pier 60. The city and the machines’ owner, Tower Optical, split the revenue, which netted the city about $3,200 last year. City employees empty the viewers monthly and send Tower a check for its share.
Now, the City Council has approved the installation of two machines on the deck at the municipal marina on Clearwater Beach. Like the viewers on Pier 60, they will provide two minutes of viewing time for 25 cents.
Each machine carries $1 million of insurance, with the city and Tower named as co-insured.
