Business ventures opening soon on Walsingham Road

LARGO – Two corners along Walsingham Road will soon sport new developments, including a bank and a new hamburger outfit.

The Westside Retail Center on the southeast corner of Walsingham Road and 137th Street, which is being developed by Tampa based Clark D. East Central Development Enterprises, will have a Starbucks, a hospital community outreach center, a salon and a hamburger restaurant called Five Guys.

The 15,000-square-foot strip mall site was part of a church’s property, but Clark D. East bought about 2 acres of land from the Westside Church of the Nazarene, which still houses a sanctuary just south of the new mall.

The location is an excellent spot for retail, said Guy Rullo, a project manager with Clark D. East.

The developer’s construction project should be completed within about a week. There are still two units that are available, Rullo said.

The restaurant, based out of Virginia, hand packs its hamburgers and boasts of winning the No. 1 burger in a “Washingtonian” magazine category. Customers can even fax in their order, according to its Web site.

A little to the west, at the northeast corner of Indian Rocks and Walsingham roads, Regions Bank will open a branch soon, according to spokesman Tim Deighton, who said the bank’s policy prevents him from disclosing the exact grand opening date.

Only a few months ago, the site was a vacant building that had previously housed a health food store.
