LARGO – Morton Plant Mease Health Care will soon open its new $9 million emergency center that will improve access to medical services in central Pinellas County.

Workers are still putting the finishing touches on the Bardmoor Emergency Center at 8839 Bryan Dairy Road. Computers, telephones and medical equipment is being installed along with desks, chairs and other furnishings.

The facility will be Tampa Bay’s first freestanding emergency facility. The 15-bed facility is not attached to a regular hospital structure. Among the features is digital X-ray equipment and a computerized tomography scanner for radiology testing, plasma television screens that display a tracking system of patient care throughout the facility, laboratory testing and pharmacy services.

The new facility will be open for business sometime in March. On March 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the center will be open for public inspection. There will be free tours, examinations, massages and safety information from local police and fire departments.
