Meeting slated on Old Northwest LARGO – The next meeting for the Old Northwest, the brand name given for 1.8 miles of downtown, will be Monday, July 13, 7 p.m., at La Pizza Mia, 118 W. Bay Drive.
The business corridor runs along both sides of West Bay Drive and the neighborhood is home to historic residential areas known for their brick streets, tree canopy and homes built in the 1920s and 1930s. Business owners and residents of the area are trying to bring new ideas to promote the area. Call Joseph Stefko at 581-6134.
‘It’s Your Day to Play’ LARGO – Designed to raise awareness of the Recreation, Parks and Arts Department during National Parks and Recreation month, “Largo, It’s Your Day to Play’” will be Saturday, July 11, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A variety of free activities will be held throughout the city. Library offers workshop for ESL tutors LARGO – The Largo Public Library is offering a free workshop to train volunteer English as a Second Language tutors. The tutor training workshops will take place on July 11, 18 and 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Space is limited. If you are interested, please contact Britney Hord at 587-6715 or bhord@largo.com. The library is located at 120 Central Park Drive.
Largo has a FLAIR for the Arts LARGO – New paintings, photography and sculptures will be unveiled at “A FLAIR for the Arts,” Saturdays, July 25, and Aug. 22, 6 to 9 p.m., at Ulmer Park, 301 W. Bay Drive. Call 587-6740, ext. 5017 or visit www.LargoEvents.com.
Events scheduled for Largo Community Center LARGO – A variety of events are scheduled at the Largo Community Center in July. Largo, It’s Your Day to Play is free and will be held Saturday July 11, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Family Fun Flicks is set for Tuesday, July 14, noon; Silver Screen Classics is set for Thursday, July 16, noon. Both events are free. The community luncheon show is set for Thursday, July 23, noon. Tickets for the luncheon are $10 and limited.
