David Parsons of Largo shows off his $250,000 Florida Lottery winnings.
LARGO - Suffice it to say that David Parsons is a believer in the lottery.

Parsons won $250,000 in the Florida Lottery’s Summer Cash Aug. 6 drawing, according to a spokeswoman for the Lottery.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Parsons, 62, a divorced Largo resident, in a telephone conversation on Aug. 12 at the Florida Lottery’s office in Tampa. “The lord works in strange ways.”

Parsons, who has been playing Florida Lottery games regularly since 1985, also won $5,000 in a scratch-off game while he was a resident in the Detroit area in Michigan.

Parsons plans to use the money to pay some bills. Injured in an accident in March, Parsons was hospitalized for eight days and had to use a walker for several days.

The ticket was sold at a 7-11 at 1355 Belcher Road S.

“7-11 has been very good to me,” Parsons said.
