Chamber to hold tourism event
PINELLAS PARK – The Pinellas Park/Gateway Chamber of Commerce and the City of Pinellas Park will hold a tourism event on May 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center, 4951 78th Ave. N. in Pinellas Park. Sponsored by the Radisson Hotel, wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served, with musical entertainment provided by recording artist and pianist James Weaver. Legion slates Armed Forces Day event
PINELLAS PARK – The American Legion Riders on May 17 will celebrate Armed Forces Day with a poker run and barbecue. Live music and raffles also will be featured. It all happens at the American Legion building, 7550 60th St. Call 544-5137.

Women’s group scheduled bible study
PINELLAS PARK – The Center for Women’s Ministries has scheduled Saturday morning bible study classes May 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center is located at 5580 Park Blvd. Call Jan Wyzinski at 547-8557.

Chamber to hold breakfast
PINELLAS PARK – Tourism will be the subject of a May 21 breakfast meeting sponsored by the Pinellas Park/Gateway Chamber of Commerce. D.T. Minich, executive director of the Pinellas County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau will be guest speaker at the 7:30 a.m. event to be held at Park Station, 5851 Park Blvd. Call 544-4777.

Coach to speak at Kiwanis Club
PINELLAS PARK – Coach Jim Leavitt of the University of South Florida on May 22 will speak before the Kiwanis Club luncheon at Park Station, 5890 Park Blvd. The local club was founded in 1960 and has participated, served and sponsored many local events, including the MDA, March of Dimes, the Marty Lyons Foundation, Special Olympics, Horses for the Handicapped and PARC.
