City man is arrested after armed robberies
PINELLAS PARK – A city man was arrested July 17 after he allegedly held up two stores at knifepoint.

Charged with two counts of armed robbery is James Ritter, 20, a day laborer who police say has no permanent address. He is being held at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Police said at approximately 6:30 a.m. Ritter walked into a 7-Eleven store at Park Boulevard and 52nd Street and demanded money from a clerk while armed with a 12-inch knife. The suspect escaped and a few minutes later walked into the nearby Storm Gas Station and allegedly repeated the first act. Police said he was captured by responding officers and arrested without incident. Police said he is a suspect in three other robberies on July 16 that occurred in the area of 49th Street and Park Boulevard.

Gunman nabbed after home invasion robbery
PINELLAS PARK – One man was arrested on July 18 after he and another suspect unsuccessfully tried to rob a couple in their home at gunpoint. Charged with home invasion robbery is Stanley Posoa, 18, of Pinellas Park. He is being held at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. Police said Posoa and his companion, who has not been captured, allegedly kicked in the front door of a home in the 6800 block of 82nd Avenue. The male victim was struck in the head with a revolver. The robbers escaped on foot without taking anything. A police K-9 dog tracked Posoa to his home where he was taken into custody.

Lone gunman holds up Lealman convenience store
LEALMAN – A lone gunman on July 20 held up a convenience store and escaped with cash. Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies said the suspect walked into the Mini-Mart Neighborhood Store, 4500 46th Ave., just before 11 a.m. After brandishing a handgun, the suspect demanded money from a clerk and escaped on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect is described as a black male, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, between 18 and 19 years old and weighing about 160 pounds.

Teenager batters officer at skate rink
PINELLAS PARK – A Pinellas Park teen was arrested July 14 after he allegedly battered a police officer. Police said the youth was at the Astro Skate Center, 10001 66th St., at about 10:35 p.m. when he used foul language in the game area. The suspect, police said, was told by Officer M. Wells to stop using obscenities. The suspect allegedly pushed Wells and later began kicking as he was being handcuffed. The youngster was taken to a youth facility.

Home invaders rob woman of sneakers
PINELLAS PARK – Two men on July 17 invaded the home of a woman and escaped with a pair of sneakers. Police said the woman at about 5:40 a.m. was sleeping on the couch at home in the 5100 block of 87th Avenue when the suspects tried to take her 2002 Nissan sedan from the driveway. After dismantling the steering wheel mechanism the thieves were unsuccessful in getting the car to start. Police said they entered the home through an unlocked door in the garage. One of the men was armed with a knife. The victim was tied with a rope. The suspects fled in a white delivery truck after taking a pair of Nike Air Jordan sneakers.

Cash taken by gunman during robbery
PINELLAS PARK – A lone gunman on July 20 robbed a convenience store and then escaped on foot. Police said the suspect walked into the 7-Eleven store, 6980 40th St., at about 2:15 a.m. He pointed a black semi-automatic revolver at the clerk and demanded money. Police said the suspect jumped up on top of the counter, grabbed an undetermined amount of cash and fled on foot. A police K-9 dog tracked the escape route, but lost the scent of the suspect who was described only as a man wearing a baseball hat, blue polo shirt and white shorts.

Lone gunman escapes with $240
PINELLAS PARK – A lone gunman armed with a revolver on July 16 held up a restaurant and escaped with $240. Police said the suspect walked into the Quyen Pho Restaurant, 4505 Park Blvd., at about 7:05 p.m. The culprit pointed a black revolver at a cashier and demanded money. After pocketing about $240 the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Man robbed at gunpoint
PINELLAS PARK – A lone gunman on July 17 held up a pedestrian and escaped with an undetermined amount of money. Police said the 33-year-old city man who was not identified was walking on Park Boulevard near 58th Street at about 7:30 p.m. when the suspect walked up to him, pointed a revolver and demanded money. Police said the culprit escaped on foot.

Toddler found on road
PINELLAS PARK – A young boy found walking on a road July 20 was returned to his parents after it was determined that they were not negligent. Police said the youngster was spotted wandering about 6:15 p.m. in the area of 58th Street and 62nd Avenue. He was unable to tell officers his name or address. Tim Caddell, city media director, said the parents were located about 11 p.m. The boy was staying with a relative who fell asleep and didn’t realize that the child had walked out. The matter is still under investigation and no charges have been filed, Caddell said.
