SEMINOLE – The 15th annual Seminole Stampede is still scheduled to be held May 17 at Walsingham park despite a lack of sponsorship money and entries.
Seminole Chamber of Commerce president Harold “Doc” Kinsey said Monday the event is still on despite only $500 in sponsorship and 28 entries.
“We’re going to take a gamble and go ahead,” said Kinsey. “I need sponsors ranging from $250 to $500 and I need runners.”
Kinsey said he has a promise of $1,500 in sponsorship from Bright House Networks “but I don’t have it on my desk.”
Kinsey said about $4,000 is needed to run the race.
The entry fee is $20 per runner. On May 1 the entry fee goes to $25.
