SEMINOLE – Pinellas County Schools maintained its previous year status with an average grade of B in the annual state school grades by the Florida Department of Education, which were released last week.
Locally, Seminole High School dropped from a B last year to C, following an A rating in 2006-07. It is the lowest rating for the school since 2003-04 when it also garnered a C and only the second time in nine years it has not scored a B or an A.
Osceola High School also fell from a B last year to a C but other area schools maintained their status from last year or improved.
Madeira Beach, Osceola and Seminole middle schools maintained their A status while Bardmoor Elementary showed the largest amount of improvement.
Bardmoor improved from a C to an A school thanks to hefty increases in science and writing on the state’s FCAT exams.
The school also saw higher scores in reading and math.
Bauder, Madeira Beach, Oakhurst, Orange Grove, Seminole and Starkey elementary schools all maintained their A status.
