Miss Seminole set to compete in Miss Florida pageant

SEMINOLE – Kristina Janolo, Miss Seminole 2008, will check in Sunday, June 29 for the Miss Florida pageant at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg.

After a busy week of activities, the pageant culminates Saturday, July 5 with the finals.

A sendoff reception was held June 17 at the Seminole Recreation Center where she spoke on her platform, “CARE – Commitment to Always Remember the Elderly.” Janolo also sang her talent song, “I Am Changing” from the Broadway play “Dreamgirls” and modeled her competition wardrobe.

Miss Seminole director Henny Hlas said it would mean a lot for Kristina to receive cards and notes of encouragement during the competition. Her address from June 29 to July 5 will be: Kristina Janolo, Miss Seminole, USF St. Petersburg RH01, 500 Second St. S., St. Petersburg, FL 33701. Her e-mail address is kjanolo87@aol.com.

Janolo will be in Group B and her competition schedule is as follows: Tuesday, July 1, interview with judges; Wednesday, July 2, swimsuit and evening wear competition; Thursday, July 3, on-stage question and talent competition; and Saturday, July 5, announcement of top 10 and finals.

The theme for this year’s pageant is “Denim and Diamonds.” Preliminary and final night tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or the Mahaffey Theater box office at www.boxoffice@mahaffeytheater.com.
